Hi

I've joined this forum because I am planning to become a landlord. In doing so, I realise I have a lot to learn, but I do want to do the job properly and therefore any opportunity to learn from others experiences will be very helpful.

Therefore any information as to what good landlord's do and bad landlord's don't will be very much appreciated. Better to receive such comments as constructive advice rather than as a complaint! A 5-star rating isn't easily achieved, but I'd like to work towards one, so hope you won't mind me being a member of this site.

Equally, I'd be happy to contribute a landlord's perspective in response to comments on this forum where they would be helpful, and once I've acquired some experience in the matter.

Hello Bond.

Firstly congratualtions on your pending landord status. I have been a tenant for approximately 5 years. The "best" landlord is (in my opinion) is one that leaves me alone until I need him. I have been incredibly fortunate that both my last and present landlords are this way. I pay my rent he leaves me alone (except for the gas check) However if I ask for him to repair something he is prompt in his actions. I did find with my first landlord that the letting agency "let him down" I could never get hold of them or they didn't return my calls. My present landlord doesn't have an agency I deal direct with an admin assistant, much nicer Approve

Basically I suppose be true to your word and never make false promises. I wish you ever success in your venture. Lesley
