I was just wondering how active this site actually is. I have had some real landlord issues and then it occurred to me that what was needed was a website where tenants could get an idea about a landlord before moving in. I decided that someone must have already thought of it and googled it. The only UK site I found was this one so I promptly added 3 reviews of the last 3 places I rented.
I visited the site again this morning and noticed that in the last year only 2 reviews have been added (apart from mine) and the forum is quite dead. Again I would like to say the IDEA of the site is great! It is something that we need in this country. With the shortage of council properties available and the forever increasing house prices more and more of us are forced to rent. Some of the things I currently have to put up with are unbelievable. I actually have dreams about telling my landlady how much I hate her. When I get out of my contract I don't want other people to have to put up with her behaviour. I advertised this site to all the people on my facebook last night after finding it by adding it to my current status. I assume it's building rather than being unkept? |

Hi MrsKittyCat,
Thanks for your post. You've raised some good questions and good points.
You are right when you say this site is building. It is still a fairly young site and we have been working at creating awareness for a little while now. The effort being put in seems to slowly be paying off, but these things can take time.
Whilst many people love the idea, there are few who are willing to support it with any kind of action. Housing organisations, Universities and private companies all shy away from the concept as it is percieved by them to be 'too risky' to be associated with. The potential for 'naming and shameing' is all they see and not the massive potential benefits for thousands of people. But we will continue to promote the site and work at increasing its effectiveness regardless.
I sincerely appreiciate the time you have taken to post your reviews and coments, along with the facebook status. Any help in increasing awareness is greatly welcomed.
Finally, I wish you luck with your current landlord. Don't do anything you may regret!
Regards
